Vice President of Engineering

By integrating cutting-edge cloud applications and professional services, they revolutionize traditional freight and parcel audits, empowering customers to efficiently oversee and manage global transportation costs.

The VP of Engineering will play a critical role in driving the company's technological vision, overseeing the creation and implementation of innovative software solutions that will solidify their position as the market leader in Transportation Spend Management. The VP of Engineering is a senior software development role in the company, reporting directly to the CPO. He/she will own and have complete responsibility for software development, DevSecOps, cloud operations and quality assurance as it pertains their SaaS platforms and software product offerings. This position will play a key role in incorporating new AI technologies as well.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Play a key role in contributing to overall business strategy.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the CPO and other executive leadership regarding software development and technology operations.

  • Manage multiple teams of engineers working globally.

  • Lead the architecture, implementation, deployment, and management at scale of all software products including the consolidation of technology systems into a single platform and services.

  • Introduce, evaluate and assist in building a business case to incorporate new AI technologies into the platform and products.

  • Drive the adoption and utilization of Agile and other contemporary software development approaches. Maximize the velocity of product iterations. Build functional delivery strategies that optimize business value through small incremental production deployments.

  • Implement metrics, monitoring, and processes to assess system and infrastructure performance.

  • Continually assess and upgrade processes for product quality, risk management, high availability, performance, and user experience.

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation and support of development and production systems and programs, including application management, security and risk management, and infrastructure and operations support management.

  • Will be ready to “roll up his/her sleeves” and bring a hands-on player/coach perspective to product development.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Executive-level product development experience in a rapidly-growing tech company with responsibility for a team of 10+ developers.

  • Experience building and managing a distributed development team. Proven success with a variety of agile methodologies and a strong sense of how and when to apply is required.

  • A consistent track record of developing and executing on aggressive but realistic product roadmaps.

  • Experience with big data and analytics is preferred but not required.
